View Full Version : [ubuntu] Delay between audio and video when playing a movie

Hey everyone,

I noticed a delay since my upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04. I first thought it was a problem with the bug in VLC (stack overflow) because it also hung after a while (30 min or so).

However, since I've installed the newer version of VLC (without that bug) I still notice a small (irritating) delay between the lips of the characters and the audio when playing a movie. It's kind of brain molesting because what you see and hear is not in sync.

I've noticed that the delay is smaller with MoviePlayer hence there is still a small (but not so big) delay. Like you notice that it's still not perfectly synced.

I've already reinstalled VLC and the Ubuntu restricted packages (for the codecs).

Some any idea or the same experience so we can to a solution together?

Thank you!

In VLC in the menu, choose "Tools" and then "Track Synchronization", there you can +/- the sound/video playback time in milliseconds.

I hope this helps ;)

Thanks for that link, it is a beauty. :)

Many people will benefit from this, another one of the plethora of tricks that the wondrous VLC has packed into it. =D>
