ubuntu shows battery not charging even when connected to ac outlet :/
keeps showing 3% left and if i unplug it , it gives the battery low message
i reboot and then it shows the battery is charging,
was it the os bug or battery ? :/

Every now and then mine suddenly says its not charging, yet plugged in, but after I unplug and plug it back in, it again says its charging. No restart needed. Maybe yours is the same problem. I don't really know why it does that.

Uhm, yeah I believe its happened to me on at least the past few releases of Ubuntu. And I'm on Natty now. Again, very rarely. Once ever month or two maybe. Like I said, I just unplug the power cord from the back of my laptop and plug it right back in and it suddenly fixes itself.

I've noticed that too as well; a Notifyosd notification would pop up saying its on battery power, but the icon would stay as plugged in. I'm afraid the issue with mine has fixed by unplugging and plugging back in. Although, I do redo my computer a fair amount using backup images, so maybe if I didn't do that the issue would have grown worse. Sorry I can't help you more than that.

Had the same problem with a Dell Inspiron 1000. After careful inspection of the power cord and the power supply I discovered a short in the cable. I replaced the power supply and it works fine now. I also had 10.04 on it but the OS had nothing to do with the problem.
