I have been seeing this for a few days but with no new daily lives for some time went on the back burner. When I boot up my daily live USB made from from oneiric-desktop-amd64.iso I only get a example icon and a install icon.

If I do a ctl+alt+t and then run nautilus from terminal and select /usr/bin/unity-2d-panel and /usr/bin/unity-2d-launcher I do get the panel and launcher back. Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks Bill

Will mark it as solved. On my system it starts in unity 3d and my nvidia card does not support it. If I change it to unity 2d all is well again but think new users will have trouble with this.

I get the "two icon" screen on my IBM Thinkpad T40 and IBM ThinkCentre A30. Those are "black listed" from Unity 3D on Narwhal so I assume they will be designated to default to 2D which they run fine. Will check again at Beta time.
