Good evening all,

This left me puzzled: When I launched the

gnome-volume-controlcommand, here's what repeatedly kept coming up;

** (gnome-volume-control:4161): WARNING **: Connection failed, reconnecting...

** (gnome-volume-control:4161): WARNING **: Connection failed, reconnecting...What happens when the very first item of a check-list doesn't give any leads in the first place?

Thank you for any help!

Is the "gnome-media" package installed? gnome-volume-control appears to be part of it. Sounds like it's there, but worth a check.

Yup, it's there all right.

Take note I'm running Tangostudio here. Couldn't find it in the flavours settings though.

and if that fails.. you could try installing Pulse Audio from the software center or from Snyaptic. If it does not work for you, you can always un-install it.

Thanks oldsoundguy, but I'm going to abstain from running that installation.
Synaptic tells me it would have to uninstall tangostudio-desktop, and that gives me the willies.
