Cannot see internet via GSM modem if wireless or wired network adapter active

This is an annoying problem, i use a USB based GSM modem to connect to the internet and i have tried everything but it seems that if i have an active network connection via ethernet cable (eth0) or wireless card (wifi) the GSM connection does not work. It dials and connects fine, its just that everything seems to be looking at the wired or wifi connection for an active internet connection rather than the GSM.

If there a way to allow me to be on my wired network AND still connect to the internet via my GSM modem?
