Okay, I recently acquired a Powermac G3, and instead of using the MacOS that I am horribly unfamiliar with I decided to install ubuntu.

Unfortunately, when I boot to the CD it goes into a endless harddrive spin up and spin down and it displays a disk with a ? on it.

I have tried a different harddisk that came out of another G3, but it doesnt seem to want to boot to the Ubuntu Mac disk that I got in the mail.

It boots to the Mac restore disk just fine, just doesnt want to boot to this disk! ](*,)

If anyone could give me some assistance, I will be greatly appreciative.

Is it a beige or a blue & white G3?

Then you cannot boot from the CDROM. You have to use BootX following the guidelines in http://www.applefritter.com/node/8936 (beware the method currently does not work with Dapper Beta - Breezy is OK though).
