Hello,
I have been told that during Skype calls, my machine suddenly starts transmitting deafening static / white noise. This happens anywhere from a few seconds to several (up to ~30) minutes into the call.
I've been watching PulseAudio's Volume Control when this happens, and the volume indicators there don't show any increase in volume - so I guess it's not an OS-level or hardware issue?
After quite some research, I found and tried this patched version of Skype: http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-static - however, it doesn't make any difference.
My setup: ThinkPad T420, Ubuntu 11.04 (I've also tried kernel v2.6.39 (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.39-rc4-natty/)), using the laptop's built-in microphone.
At this point, I'm essentially clueless - any help would be greatly appreciated.
