Hi,

Im a complete newb in matters of cms and now I want to learn it.

Can anyone give me links to newbie help about plone?
I used the 'CMFQuickInstallerTool' to crete a basic website. So far so good. I disabled the automatic user-folder-creation because I dont want everyone to have a home (my space and bandwidth are limited).
So here come the questions:
*how can I create a User folder for a user who doesnt have one, jet?
*can I set a quota/limit to the total size of a users folder?
*how do I post news in the news tab?
*how do i create new tabs?
*how do i create additional boxes on the sides to display i.e. links to sponsors?
*...

As you can clearly tell I'm a TOTAL and utterly anoying, stupid newbie :P - Would be great if soneone could help me change that. *fg*
So far all pages I have done were plain html. All users on my webserver were told to learn html and upload it. Plone looks kewl - I read there are easier options - but I'm looking for something I can use for a preoeffional University Project Site as well.

thx in advance,

I had difficulties with Plone also.

I used this method after working with it a few days.

1. Break keyboard, throw mouse, punch desk, kick trashcan, curse loudly and then growl really insanely.
2. Scream at monitor for good measure.
3. Get new keyboard, pick up mouse, return trashcan to it's normal place.
4. Stomp into boss' office and tell him the project is going wonderfully, you just forgot to mention the $11 million license fee.
5. Project gets cancelled.
6. Uninstall all things related to Plone or that even have those letters in them.
7. Go back to playing HL2 on company time.

After that, I had no problems.
