View Full Version : [ubuntu] Problems with all video formats

Hi there folks

Ever since I upgraded to 11.04 I've had problems with video that I wasn't having before - some formats will play, some (particularly .mov files) will stick alot and just show frames, sometimes videos that play one day won't play the next. The .avi files seem reasonable most of the time, .wmv less so and .mov and .mp4 aren't too good at all.

I'm using vlc at the moment but have tried Movie Player and Banshee with more or less the same result. I have restricted extras, have even enabled medibuntu, though being a pretty inexperienced user I'm not quite sure how to install medibuntu features.

Any suggestions? I'm using an HP mini laptop with the standard Ubuntu desktop release, and am kind of lost where to go from here. I've searched for other threads like this but can't find exact matches, so any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Andy (:
