I installed Fedora 14 just for fun and noticed that it was using OpenOffice 3.3. It had a neat applet in the top panel called Quickstarter that had a drop down menu to select which application to use. Does anyone know if that is new to version 3.3?

Why isn't Ubuntu 10.10 using version 3.3? I noticed it doesn't seem to be in the repositories either.

Because it was too late to be used in 10.10. Perhaps there is a PPA that you can add to the repositories to update to Open Office 3.3, but Ubuntu starting with 11.04 has switched to Libre Office.

But it also says that "Canonical provides critical updates for OpenOffice.org until April 2012."

Where are those updates?

Critical updates are security updates.
