View Full Version : Leaving for Mint, at least for now

Yesterday, Natty failed on me after doing some tweaking, and since I had to make a new live usb anyway, I decided to try out a new distro. After some research I decided on Linux Mint, installed Julia and I am pretty happy with it, so far. But I'm not gone from the Ubuntu community, I'll be back. This is temporary, a test drive if you will. If I decide to keep it, I'll go from there but for right now I'm leaving to use Linux Mint.

Since mint is using the ubuntu repositories, you could barely see it as "leaving". I just installed the beta of Katya yesterday, and it runs fine. In fact, it's just natty with gnome and a mint theme :-D.
Normally, if Ubuntu will fail on you, mint will fail too. So if natty didn't work for you, there is a big chance that Katya won't work too.

I installed Linux Mint Debian and its been great for the last three months not that I disliked Ubuntu but I wanted to give something else a try for a while.I would like to duel boot with Xubuntu when I get the time to mess up my computer again I really like Xfce and want to play with that too.

A lot of use like trying different distros. I myself have dual-boot Xubuntu 11.04 x64 and Fatdog 511 (64 bit puppy).
Here are some programs from mint usable in ubuntu, just in case you want to. :)

Mint has proven to be a solid little OS! I like it . It's easier on my eyes I guess but I still have Ubuntu in my front and back pockets.
