Yes, lets begin with what I have here:

- Computer:
- ASRock 939-DUAL-SATA2 motherboard
- AMD Athlon 3000+, Cool'N'Quiet on
- 512MB 400mhz RAM
- Club3D Geforce 6600GT, Installed the newest drivers avaible with this (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=75074) HOWTO, using Method 2.
- At the moment, I've been using SATA-I because I couldn't install Ubuntu with SATA-II enabled.

Yes, to the problem. My FPS at Counter-Strike should be 100 all the time, 800x600 res with OpenGL, but it aint. Sometimes it is 30-70, sometimes 80-100, it depends. But the problem is that shouldnt 6600GT have 100fps all the time at CS.

Also, Quake2's fps wont raise from 70, it is like capped, and cl_maxfps is set to 140. With the same settings, 9600XT the fps was 142 all the time, at Windows.

I would need some quick help to this problem, ty. ^^

Is your gameplay not smooth anyway at those fps?

If so, what's the problem? :KS

I have the same problem, and NO, the gameplay is not very smooth at all, counting that the FPS will jump from 30 to 60-90 and then back to 20-30...it's feelin kinda laggy...I have ATI Radeon 9250 Pro 128MB, and the problem is not the hardware...it runs perfectly smooth in windows...

It is most likely a driver problem, ATI & linux don't play very well together.

Rarely someone has a good experience with the combination.

nVidia, on the other hand work really well.

Sorry, thats how it is at the moment.

God damn it, the only game I play ATM is Counter-Strike and for that I have to keep 10 GB reserved for Windows...it's just not fair... :(](*,)

Sorry to hear that that is your situation...

If you can find an nVidia card, somewhere for low cost, (which is probably possible now) you will be ahead of the game ( pun intended ) what ever it is. :KS

Which part of the world do you live in? If you live in Australia, I can point you in the right direction for a new card at a good price! I hope that I am allowed to say that here on the forum?

If not I will be censored, & that's ok!! :KS
