Does Ubuntu need a bios with acpi version 2.0 to enable the Discard/TRIM option for SSDs.
If you're running an ssd with Discard enabled can you run 'sudo biosdecode' and see which version of ACPI you have.
I ask since windows 7 requires acpi 2.0 to use TRIM, i'm wondering if that is a windows driver requirement or a hardware requirement for trim being enabld.
My motherboard has 1.0b and i'm thinking of getting an SSD, i would especially like to hear from those with version 1.0 or 1.0a, 1.0b, i'd rather not divide my budget to a smaller ssd and a motherboard too
