Mouse flickers + won't work!!!

I updated to Ubuntu 11.04 and have had many problems one of which was my mouse cursor flickering and becoming none responsive or it would move around but when I tried to click on things it did nothing but flicker more and I had to re-start again and again, has any one else experienced similar errors?
I have a Dell Optiplex GX60 with onboard intel video card, 2.4 CPU and 2GBs RAM.

I think my keyboard was working fine just the mouse.
Also Unity 3d would not work so this was in standard view???
