View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ethernet connection stopped working overnight

Dual booted box with 10.04 Lucid and Windows7.

Went to bed last night with a working wired connection (computer on overnight, not in sleep mode). Woke up and the connection was dead: Firestarter stopped, no throughput, unable to ping the router.

Booted into Windows (for the first time in months), and the nic is working fine.

After looking around, I thought this may be a BT homehub update issue, but the last firmware update was 01 May, and it worked all day yesterday (2nd.)

Results of ifconfig:

Help please?

It looks like the nic isn't even listed. "sudo lshw -C network" comes back empty.

Weird... So, I booted from a live cd to test it, even though it worked in Win7: it worked fine from the live cd. Booted back into lucid, and the ethernet connection is working again.

Any idea what happened?
