I'm aware of host, whois etc and reverse lookup.

We have had a really weird situation where several not very wildly known sites have been found when all free reverse lookups do not seem to reveal them as on ip address

Other than nominet service to search by registered user

Is it possible to qwery apache for all virtual hosts remotely or specifically qwery dns records for all cname records to one ip?

Not that I know of, but there are tools that query search engines for virtualhosts on a specific IP, so if your site can be found using a search engine, it can be found by its ip-address only.
