Hello!
Can't you install your ir1610 printer on Ubuntu?
Recently, a pair of weeks, I haved this same problem, I could not find the iR1610 driver, I was so tired of looking for, but on my last in my last attempt I found it.
I was looking in http://www.openprinting.org/printers and it doesn't appear iR1610 but iR1023, so I downloaded this .ppd file and tried whit this one and what happen??
IT WORKS for iR1610!!!

If anyone like (pOPaji (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=150319) on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=238704) have this problem just download the .ppd (http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Canon/Canon-imageRunner_1023) file and install your iR1610! :P

I have the same problem with my iR1610 and I tried to install it using the .ppd file for iR1023 and it did not work.

I tried it on ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04 in several machines. Sometimes the printer did not respond to any print command and on rare occasions the printer responded by simply pulling all the paper int he feed and output it empty with no printing on it.

Can you help me with that? Also do you know if there is a way to make the windows driver work? Something like ndiswrapper for wirless devices which works for some network devices using Windows XP drivers.

Regards,
Amr
