Hello,

Am not quite sure if this is a hardware or software problem, so am just posting it here.

I have this scanner I bought a decade or so ago that used to work on Win 98. When I upgraded to XP the guy told me that the scanner won't work on XP; i don't recall if I tested this or not, but anyways, I was just a kid at the time; am a big boy now :P

The scanner is: Genius ColorPage-Vivid III
The sticker on it says:

2 Easy Touch Buttons
Customized Button for Copy, Fax, OCR, or E-mail functions
48-bit superior ColorTill now I've kept it around not thinking of it. Now, & after a couple of yrs with Linux I thought, why not try it ? why not use it ?

I just plugged the power & it light on; am not sure or not whether the scanner's light (that goes over the page while scanning) should stay lit b/c it does. Could it be that it is heating up lol ?

Here is what i got in the terminal:

$ lsusb

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05ca:18a0 Ricoh Co., Ltd
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hubObviously it is detected but still Simple Scan doesn't seem to detect it.

Any ideas ?
