Dear community!

I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition on my girlfriend's Acer Aspire One 721. I was stupid enough to ignore that there was no network connection when installing, and thought that networking will work properly after the installation.

However I can't connect to wifi using the default network manager. Cable connection works fine, so I used it to install wicd. The latter sees our home network and seemingly connects to it, but Firefox always sais it can't find the server (whatever the website) as if the machine isn't connected to the network. Broadcom STA wireless driver is installed and enabled.

I did google for solutions, but didn't manage to try out everything yet, just the basics, which a noob like me can handle.

I will very much appreciate every hint and advice, as well as links to solutions.

Best wishes :)

Hi!

Have you tried clicking on the wifi icon and search for your wifi?

Have you tried going into Firefox and entering the following in the URL bar:
about:config and disable ipv6?

Yes, it showed "wifi disabled". Or do you mean, I should have clicked on that line? Because I think it was grey.

Nope :) I'll do that when I get a hold of the netbook again this evening.
