I installed ubuntu on my new hp pavilion g4. I would say this has been one of the best out-of-box experiences I have had for such a "price point" laptop. One thing though- there seems to need to be a tweak in the brightness settings. When on battery power, while idle the display dims to a very low setting. Then when resuming it stays on a lower brightness setting. I have to turn it up again, but when it becomes idle it reverts back to the low setting again instead of remembering the former brightness. Any ideas? I was running 10.10, upgraded to 11.04 and same problem...

I am also facing the brightness problem on HP pavilion g4 1201tx. I am currently using ubuntu 10.04 and the brightness keys don't work on this version. When I upgraded to ubuntu 10.10, the keys were working... But I want the solution of brightness problem for 10.04. Ubuntu tweak is not effective for me. Brightness is at the maximum level for me and it hurts a lot... Please help.
