Like the subject line. All the howto are not debian/ubuntu specific. I know debian/ubuntu use special config files and I want to do this properly. I want 404 pages for any 404 response code site wide.

Bingo, that's because the question is not Ubuntu/Debian specific, it is an Apache question :)

Well, here (http://www.fettesps.com/ubuntu-810-server-custom-404-pages/) is a nice guide. It still is accurate, altho it was originally written for "9.04"

PS. Correct me if I am wrong, every day I learn something new ;)
