i am using fluxbox and sometimes GNOME whem i am using gnome i often change the themes, and now i want to make my theme but i don't know how i can do it?can you help me?which programs will i use. is GIMP enough for it?

Yep , gimp should do it. But if you don't know how to use it you might get some practice first.

Other than that, just try to manipulate diffrent images and try what the diffrent options do.

Bandit and bvc are the experts. maybe they can give you a few tips.

The best way is by taking an excisting theme and modifying it. It's a lot easier then beginning from scratch.

it's really easy to make a Clearlooks color mod... once you get into pixmap themes, it's a bit harder ;)
edit already made themes to learn... it's alot easier.
if you're modding a pixmap theme, and using origional pixmaps, make sure to ask the origional author first... i made a nice one off of Lockheed's Tempura, but he wouldn't let me release it :(

once you get into pixmap themes is that themes like aero(this (http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/566) one) which uses a pattern rather than a solid colour?
