View Full Version : [SOLVED] Drop down menus only appear after repeated attempts
March 25th, 2011, 08:51 AM
I noticed with the recent version of Ubuntu, 10.10 that the drop down menus, when selected the sub menus doi not appear straight away. I have to repeatedly go up and down the menu until they appear. They often open a blank box and sometime once selected leave the menu on the screen. This happens on all my machines.
Any ideas, please?

This is a known issue, I also asked the same question a few mounts ago and got no specific/helpful answer... (links here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1674362) and here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1665455))
Altho, I can almost 100% say, that it has something to do with metacity and the "Other" eye candy products, such as compiz, etc... fighting to the death about who is theming the menu...

Thanks, at least I know I am not alone.... I shall assume the gods of Ubuntu are looking in to this and shall resolve in the fullness of time. In the meantime I shall continue to run my mouse up and down the menu until the sub-menu appears!!!!
