View Full Version : [ubuntu] best pci wireless card for ubuntu

Thinking of getting a wireless pci card for a desktop and I have seen a lot of people have issues with specific wireless cards. Is there a particular card or chipset that will be relatively painless to use?

I have seen this question asked before, but have not seen any replies.

I am new to this as well. I have Ubuntu 10.04 on my Toshiba Satellite L655. I went and bought a Tenda W322U V2.0 and it worked out of the box. It even says Linux compatible on the box.

I bought a USB dongle that was advertized as "compatible with Linux". It wasn't. I gave up on it. I'd have more confidence in people's experience as posted here and on here:

This link is not as complete and up-to-date as we'd like but I think it's a good guide. It at least talks about chip sets.

Here (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/catalog)is a list of 'supported' devices - there a re a good number of wireless ones there
