Better XGL support.
I have a Gateway notebook MX6640b and your 3D support just ruins the drivers.
The notebook runs on 1280 X 800 resolution

AeroScap: Please gladly ask a completely new-to-Ubuntu person what XGL is. They'll respond "I don't know.". I guarantee it. From this, we can deduce that XGL support will NOT be in EasyUbuntu!
oncemore:
* IPod support: Ubuntu supports this. Just plug in an IPod and you get a file manager. What more do you want?
* gnome-art: Why do you want this?
* mplayer: Easily gotten with "apt-get install mplayer mozilla-mplayer"
* vlc: Nope, sorry, we have mplayer
* cd/dvd burner: er, places > cd/dvd creator
* p2p program: all legal. one good one is aMule: apt-get install amule
* im program: Gaim included in EasyUbuntu.
* development platform(live eclipse): We will NEVER include this, because EasyUbuntu is for the masses, not just for developers.
* some browsers and email clients: er, ephipany and mozila-thunderbird are inluded in Ubuntu repositories, what more could you want?
* add oss support: NO. Do newbies want to mess with sound?
So I think that's nearly all the feature requests rejected.

Just gotta say, EasyUbuntu saved me a lot of hassle when it came to installing the multimedia plugins for audio and video on the 64-bit version. Shame the WMV files cant be played yet. A little suggestion, at moment, since Firefox 64-bit does not really display flash and java that well, will it be possible for you guys to include the 32-bit version for download? Obviously, I know there is a wiki on here that shows you how to do it, but I am thinking for those who cant be bothered going through all that, EasyUbuntu could offer the ability for it to be done for them.... Is it possible???
cheers

Is java a problem? I thought that it worked well on the 64 bit platform?
For teh 32 bit version, it would possibly involve setting up a chroot, and that is quite complicated. Plus, none owns an 64 bit (i own a ppc!).

How about an option to replace the ubuntu icon in the Applications menu with the Gnome foot. Many users prefer this but may not want to fix it via the command line.

libflash-mozplugin for PPC-arch.
It's a complaint that keeps coming back: no flash whatsoever on PPC. Libflash-mozplugin alleviates this to a certain extent. (It trails a bit behind re: newer versions of Flash, but it's better than nothing?) Requires libflash0c2

I am on PPC too, but that plugin used to crash my browser. Is that fixed?

It doesn't seem to cras Firefox, but it seldomly works very good, most things, like YouTube use a more modern Flash etc...

+1 :p  Vive le Québec libre!
Anyway, I like the way Easy Ubuntu is going. I tried it before Automatix and the latter one caused me some problems.
I'm trying to go Ubuntu-only, but I wait for the games and the easyness of Windows-programs installing.
As an additionnal feature, I could think the addition of a Msn/Webcam for newbies would be a great thing. aMsn 0.95 + webcam codecs (I never got to install those ******* plugins with my "Wal-Mart" Logitech Electronics WC10 webcam).
Salut!

* Thumbnails for OpenOffice Documents :P
Seriously I have them for pdf's I dont know why I dont have them for other documents...
* Some basic nautilus actions? (Newbie tasks only)
- Print OOo documents
- Send To for Thunderbird
- Set picture as wallpaper
* Print to PDF CUPS Driver (We need this at work as the tracking system only accepts PDF's, not a problem with the windows printer driver)
* Install mpg321 and vorbis tools so sound preview works in Nautilus
* Maybe install firefox human theme? And firefox ubuntu search plugin?
[edit] Before I forget a deb would be nice with gdebi in dapper running command line to install the 'easy' ubuntu seems a bit backwards IMHO

Install wine / wine tools
If wine tools then possibly also IE tab although that might just confuse new users.
What exactly is the target demographic for EasyUbuntu ie. for users new to Ubuntu or new to computers in general?

Configuring might be a bit too much for EasyUbuntu, but maybe we could download the firmware files for the broadcom device.

look dude. denying all the feature requests isn't going to help anyone.
you basically said that could be done with [insert code here], but the thing is newbs don't want to have to get into the terminal to get their video player or their what-have-you. Things that get you basic functionality (video players, iPod support, ect) should be available with the easy-to-use interface in EasyUbuntu. Also, maybe you don't own an ipod, but you cant just drag songs in and out of it. The iPod has it's own way of doing things. You can only do it easily with things like gtkpod or my favorite, yamipod.
peace dude

As you said, basic functionality that you requested is already performed by EasyUbuntu.
Most of the feature requests I've seen seem to be too uncommon. Request for Ipod support is fine (and I always thought that it worked out of the box), but I don't see how IE tab after installing wine would a common user. I dont see how installing 2-3 video players is helpful.
We have already setup stuff for translations, hopefully we will have them implemented soon.
flash on ppc -> i tried it, no sites worked! i did not see a point in providing a solution that does not work.
broadcom cards -> Most of the work in setting up the driver is installing the firmware, so this is definitely a good addition for next release.
So which suggestions do you think would be useful to the common user, that we have rejected?

NumLocks would be nice ... a little utility that automatically enables numer locks.

It would be great if easyubuntu will check if packages are already installed. For example i've already installed packages with nvidia drivers, flash plugin and codecs without easyubuntu. But checkboxes were unchecked in easyubuntu. I don't think, that it's normal

Thanks, this has been discussed before and is on our wishlist for next release.

We will not install browsers/media players/packages in addition to what Ubuntu offers, sorry.

Do something about ipv6. There seems to be opposition from some of the linux community to turning off ipv6 but the fact is that some peoples routers / ISPs don't support it. Iether somehow set Ubuntu to check when connecting to a network / gatway if it supports ipv6 and if it doesn't turn it off for that session. Or set the timeout to something more reasonable ( it seems like it takes ~ 16 seconds for ipv6 to time out before ipv4 is used instead ) Linux networking is far supirior to windows but all new users will see is that it takes 16 seconds to even start loading a page.
<rant>Sorry I am just frustrated by the amount of work it takes to disable ipv6 system wide and the fact that when I ask how to do it instead of getting an answer I get lectured on why I shouldn't </rant>

I'm a complete n00b, and I would like to say this program rocks :)
Saves a lot of command line hassle :P
Anyway, I use newsgroups a lot to download binaries, and the .rar extractor (The reason I discovered this program ;)) was a real help, though I would also like a .par2 checker, to ensure my downloads are complete. I can understand why you wouldn't include this though, your average user probably doesn't know what usenet and par files are :P

re-evaluating the application description
easyubuntu strives to be easy and everybody does see that ;)
however i was a little bit off with some of the apps description
for instance
in the web tab theres
Skype - the most popular Voip software
shouldn't it be Skype- a Voip software or Skype- a popular voip software
because i think having to say its the most popular is like favoring a closed source voip app with a non standard proprietary protocol.
also Openwengo - a free alternative to skype. openwengo is not just free its also opensource, also both skype and openwengo is free to use and both can offer a paid service too.
so i think its not just a good description, other than all descriptions fit, and the program is great :)

I'd like to see easy ubuntu as a .deb package in the repos, I find debs are easier to manage, keep up to date.
Oh, and thanx for a great program

I have this problem on almost every install of ubuntu ive seen, where firefox won't play sound from videos (for example on youtube, or google video) if other xine programs are running (e.g. amarok). In the end i got a solution on this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1187519#post1187519
Which basically routes firefox's sound output through alsa, not oss. I'd love to see this setup in easy ubuntu, as I'm sure lots of people have this problem.

HI, I think that XGL in disguise would be excelent. Something like: 3d desktop / special effects...
looks, in my opinion, is the main reason that makes people try linux.
other requests:
- suse like desktop arrangement. that would help noobs feel more like home.
- Keytouch support! lots of people wanting to configure their unused multimedia keys and not knowing where to start.
