This question is in relation to new volume icon in Places- this is my windows vista OS. What I didn't realize is you could delete and change the files there! Is there a way to hide this from Ubuntu or lock it so it is not accessible, and can a virus cross from one to another, vista to Linux, Linux to vista via the new partition.
Hope you can help. Thanks Andy

...can a virus cross from one to another, vista to Linux, Linux to vista via the new partition.
Relax, it's not gonna happen.
Windows has no way of accessing linux filesystems and viruses have no way of accessing... linux.

As far as viruses and that sort of stuff, TeoBigusGeekus is absolutely right.

As to your main question; there is a way, not easy mind you, and will require some reading:

The actual discussion regarding a solution starts with post #40

Good luck!
