Hi,

We have a pretty decent collection of DVD's and whenever I buy a new one I prefer to make a backup of it, use that to watch the movie and keep the original in the cupboard.
(we have a 2.5 year old).

What is the best process of doing this with Ubuntu without making coffee coasters?

I am new to this so would prefer something with a GUI.

Thanks in advance

:)

Also realize that with commercial movie DVDs you have two other complications ...

First, the standard commercial DVD is aroung 9GB, not 4GB. So, to make a full copy of it, not only will you need 9GB disks (which are generally known as dual-layer (DL)), you will also need a DL burner.

Second, it's not unusual for commercial DVDs to be protected by DRM -- which will interfere with your ability to copy it.

Don't know how to bypass the second, but I believe there's something you can install in Ubuntu that will do that.
