Hello,
On Ubuntu 10.04 I installed the French and the English language.
I changed the French language to English at the start of a new session on the window where you select the user.
At the next session I wanted to come back to the French language
and there is my problem :
I cannot go back to French
The menus stay in English
Moreover the Desktop icons disappeared as well as some documents ! ! !
How can I come back to the French menus ?
Thanks for your help :(

Yes I did and got this alarm :

"Could not apply changes ! fix broken packages first !

But I see no broken package in synaptic

Have you tried logging out, then selecting the different language, then logging back in?

That is exactly what I have done several times but obviously all the French files are not there :)

Firefox menus are in French but "Places and System" menus and OpenOffice menus are kept in English

I already re installed the following packages :

aspell-fr language-pack-fr, language-pack-fr-base, language-pack-gnome-fr, language-pack-kde.fr, language-support-fr, manpages.fr for Ooo : myspell-fr

I am staying in English until I can find the conflict solution
Thanks for your help

The answer was easy enough :

In order to come back to your local language ( other than English )
You have to put it on top of the list by a "click and move" in the following windows :
< Language & text >
