View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can't read any CDs, Ubuntu doesn't want to recognize my drive

I'm having a problem getting Ubuntu to read CDs. I'm pretty new to Ubuntu.

I've attached a screenshot of what my CD/DVD Drive screen in the Disk Utility looks like.

When I try to use the eject button, just to see if that works, I get an error saying "error ejecting the medium". I've attached a screenshot of that as well. I've searched around on these forums and on the net in general and have yet to find a solution to my problem.

Help will be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot.

CD isn't listed under Places for me.

When I go to Computer, there is a CD/DVD Drive directory, but clicking on it doesn't do anything.

Same problem for me. I have an HP dv6000 laptop. I installed ubuntu from the drive by booting with the disc, but I can't get the OS to recognize it.

I'm lost!
