Just a thought, try your wireless anyway it may work already (mine did). Then try hardware drivers from System>Administration, it may do it for you. If not go to Applications>Ubuntu Software Centre and put in sysinfo.
This will put a link in Applications>System tools, run that and "save" this will generate a text file with your hardware specs. Posting that will help others to help you.
Oooh post number 1 :) Welcome to the forums and good luck with Ubuntu. The following may be useful.
A good basic overview of Ubuntu in particular is available here
http://ubuntu-manual.org/
And there is another here
http://www.ubuntupocketguide.com/download_main.html
Both free PDF downloads.
There is also this
http://sourceforge.net/projects/linu...2.pdf/download (http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxcommand/files/TLCL/09.12/TLCL-09.12.pdf/download)
That's for in depth knowledge about linux in general should you wish for it sometime, and it is another freebie.
I've found Ubuntu to be a good operating system and easy to use when you get the hang of it ( not as steep a learning curve as windows ), I hope you enjoy it.
