desktop comes off of screen

Hey,
I downloaded ubuntu and installed it on one of my hard drives, it worked fine until I changed the settings for the screen resolution and updated all driver.
Now when i load it up the desktop comes off the screen, its about 10% off each side, the mouse goes off and i can click the task bars but i cant get them to come back on screen.
When i change the screen resolution all it does is make everything bigger and the desktop still goes off screen.

Please help as this is a real inconvenience.

Mine is doing the same thing. About 10% in each direction too big. I Have been using a sony bravia and a Hitachi 42 inch plazma as monitors. Tried different cables. S video and dvi to hdmi converter. Neither cable nor tv fixed the problem. Maybe I need to try an actual computer monitor. I would like ubuntu to work on my tvs though as i watch netflix on this computer (currently with windows that is cause ubuntu is being a pain). Any help would be great. Thanks!
