While browsing through the Ubuntu support pages today to see which Thinkpads were compatible out of the box (considering one for my next machine), I found this page:

http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201011-6830

It says that Lenovo provides customized builds of Ubuntu specifically for its products. I have searched the Lenovo website and found nothing. Can anybody verify whether or not these images actually exist?

A couple of years ago I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad X61-tablet (7764CTO) from Lenovo with Ubuntu Hardy (8.04 LTS). I vaguely remember that they stopped doing pre-installed linux but my memory is faint and dusty.

I've been mostly happy with my Thinkpad(s) and the web reports much joy over the X200 or X201 tablet (I forget the exact numbers).

Bonne chance,
