I don't know how other folks are doing, but during prime surfing hours, the forums seem to time out a lot on me.
I was thinking maybe it's time to start accepting donations for server upgrades. I have a feeling there's going to be a flood of new users with Dapper coming out. I know I'd be down for helping out.
Thoughts? :-k

I don't have any problem with it timing out. But what are the prime sufing hours?

Yes, the situation is getting a little serve during peak times and even on some non peak times. On April 13th, 2006 myself and James Troup the sysadmin for canonical exchanged emails about memory usage etc. I expressed we needed more ram and even an additional server to split db/web traffic before dapper. Two weeks went by with no reply, I sent another ticket to the canonical syadmin group on April 28th, 2006 requesting an update with no reply as on yet.
Bottom line if we don't get something in a few weeks I'll be bringing the server administrating back in house, the lack of communication is really unacceptable.
Disabling guest searchs and some other features really kills me and I dislike it. So hang in there we'll get it figured out soon..
EDIT: I got an update just now..

Cool! You didn't even request any donations!
Still had trouble accessing the forum the other night though. Timed out around 2am Eastern for close to 15 minutes or so. Other high traffic sites seemed to work fine for me, so I don't think it's on my end...but I have noticed a bit better response lately. The forums generally feel snappier. Keep up the good work and I'll try not to complain as much as simply try to inform. Honestly for the value of these forums, I'd wait an hour to get at the info I need...it's just less convenient ;)
