Hi,
I use the Main Menu applet that displays the three menus: Applications, Places, and System. I love having quick access to each menu, and I want to keep the three drop down menus but use less space. Can it be edited so the text is replaced with icons - or simply shorten the text to just a single character for each menu?

Right now it looks like "[Ubuntu-Icon] Applications Places System", I want it to simply be "[Application-Icon] [Places-Icon] [System-Icon]" or "A P S".

This would be absolutely awesome if someone could help me out. Thanks. :)

1) You hope that the words "Applications," "Places," and "System" are not words but icons placed in the top panel.

2) You find where the icons are stored.

3) You rename the icon file.

4) You paste your icon in the folder and give it the name of the icon that you are replacing.

You can swap numbers 3 and 4 if you want.

5) You do this for all the sizes of the icons.

6) You then write up a tutorial and post it here. Just in case some of us want to do the same.

And good luck to you!

P.S. This subject is not absolute beginner talk. It is not even beginner talk.
