I have 8.04 on a PC and recently ran Update Manager, after which I can't get my Firefox browser to open.

All it will do is flash something to the effect of "checking add-ons" and it does this a couple of times but will not open.

I would appreciate it if you have a suggestion for me.

TIA

Thanks and I can understand your curiosity.

I somehow screwed up recently and lost all my spreadsheets, so I decided to recreate them, then save them on a spare hard drive, which I thought would be safer than storing them on thumb drives.

The spare hard drive was one which I had used about a year ago when I was trying (unsuccessfully) to set up a dual boot system, as I need XP to run my CAD program but I didn't get the 'jumpers' set correctly.

Now I have the hard drive to where it will boot up and I was surprise to find that it had 8.04 on it but it lacked about 137 updates.

It was after installing all the updates that the problem with the browser showed up.

The link you gave me looks interesting but I think I will need a good night's sleep before I attempt it. :-)

Kind regards.
