Yes, of course its possible! Just follow the install instructions on the Mac/Linux DVD or iso file that you have.

is it possible to use the same dvd as that of windows on ubuntu to install it ???

Not unless the Linux version of Matlab is on the disk.
You might like to look at Octave (http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/) as an alternative to Matlab. It's free.
