Anybody have a tutorial link that one can build a bootable USB stick with basic ubuntu OS
but tailored to be a generic hardware and/or software configuration diagnostic tool ?

Software config for ubuntu, but hardware probing and testing to be able to troubleshoot any box much like the live CD's do with memtst.
