Hi everyone,

Its been more than 6 months that I have used this current installation of Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS, and Adobe Flash still does not work out of the box. Its worked on the 32bit installation, yet never worked for the x86_64 install.

Does anyone know when or if this would be mended?

Regards, z

Flash never works out of the box because it's not preinstalled. As for the 64bit version, ... how should we know? It's probably best to think about it as 'possibly sometime, but most likely never'.

I've been using the "Square" preview for a fair while - works fine:

64 bit Flash is available. It's just not available in the repos. Install Flash Aid in Firefox (Google Flash Aid and click the second link that is shown) and it will take care of installing the 64 bit flash for you and keeping it up to date.

After installing Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit, I installed the "restricted extras" and flash worked just fine. It has worked fine every day since then, too.

I had problems running fullscreen flash with 32-bit flash + ndiswrapper installed by restricted-extras, that don't exist with 64-bit flash.

fyi, this installs the 32 bit version and ndiswrapper.

I've been running 64 bit flash for quite a while. I don't think there's ever been an actual release version though, I've always downloaded it from Adobe Labs.

Unpack the .tar.gz file and put the .so file in ~/.mozilla/plugins
