Is there a way to filter static or noise out of an mp3? I have avidemux and audacity but I'm not sure how to go about it, or if its actually possible.

thanks

In Audacity, import the track then go to: Tools>Noise Removal.

Thanks for the reply. I just tried that but I think in this case its not going to be possible because I can't isolate the noise. It was worth giving it a shot though.

Yes there are always limits to how much you can clean up a bad recording. You might also want to try editing it manually with a graphic EQ, which can sometimes help salvage something.

Thanks again. When you mention graphic EQ do you mean one like PulseAudio Equalizer that just adjusts the sound? Or a program that actually edits?

I mean the one in Audacity, it should be there in the effects list where the noise removal option is.
