recordMyDesktop refresh application

Greetings all!

I've recently corresponded with John Varouhakis, the gentleman behind the recordmydekstop application many of us Linux users use to do screencasts. Unfortunately, John has moved on from this project citing various reasons and has expressed his disappointment in the state he left the project and mistakes made in the initial design.

I'd like to see if anyone is interested in breathing new life into this project. From what I gather, John made some errors in the initial architecture so it would probably mean a start from scratch sort of project but we could certainly learn from his mistakes and reuse good parts of the code.
