Soldier of Fortune Installation

Have the Linux cd but when I try to run the setup script I get the following

stephen@godspeed:~/temp $ sh setup.sh
This installation doesn't support glibc-2.1 on x86

Please contact Loki Technical Support at support@lokigames.com

I have rdownloaded the updates but they assume you have it tinstalled already.
Can anyone help, I know a few others have had this problem with other loki games.
