I have been using ProFTPd on Ubuntu Server 8.04. I have started getting complaints from customers telling me that when they try to login they are receiving "Error 550 (Exceeded maximum permitted login attampts). The "attampts" is actually spelled just like that. The syslog looks like this
Jan 21 15:56:08 FTPserver proftpd: pam_unix(proftpd:session): session opened for user rq10105 by (uid=0)
Jan 21 15:56:13 FTPserver proftpd: pam_unix(proftpd:session): session closed for user rq10105
