I was unable, despite many attempts, to install Ubuntu 10.10 on a 1 gig, 100 gig hd, x86 box, until I gave up installing it exclusively. I was successful when I was guided to create a 29 gig partition for Windows XP to live in. Ubuntu occupies the remaining 70 gigs.

Ah, what a difference! The GUI is beautiful! And so fast! I was close to just tossing the Windows box out the window. But now it has a new lease on life.

My laptop is a MacBook Air.

Maybe somebody could post how to completely eradicate Windows XP (Home) from the machine.

Best to all,

Ron

Boot up with a live cd/usb, open gparted (gnome partition manager) and nuke it. It's the only way to be sure... :lolflag:
