How can I hear audio in pps files in Maverick?

I heard pps embedded audio in Lucid. I can't hear it in Maverick. Why not?

I'm still stuck on this. VLC player will play the audio files (reported as MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 mpga) but not show the images. OOo will show the images but not play the audio. Sounds like a codec short somewhere.
