I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed thru WUBI. There was a security update that I applied today after which my Ubuntu doesnt boot up. It fails with -File not found "loadfont". Discussions in other forums indicate that I may need a Live CD to start resolving this. Can i burn the .fuse_hidden file that gets autdownloaded with WUBI into a CD and use it as LiveCD? I do not want to undergo the trouble of downloading 700 MB for this.

I just ran an md5sum check on mine and it matches exactly. So I suppose it should work fine.

$ md5sum /media/PRESARIO/ubuntu/install/.fuse_hidden0000000400000001

Thanks bcbc. I tried this out over the weekend and it worked perfectly. I just renamed the file to ISO and wrote it into my USB using the USB writer tool,and it worked as my LiveUSB with no problems!

Great! That's good to know.

PS that 10.04 booting problem - you've seen the Wubi megathread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1639198) right? Problem #2, Solution #1, followed by Permanent Fix after booting.
