Hi

A faulty socket on the psu failed and connected/reconnected in an alarming fashion. I'm amazed Ubuntu works at all.

The result is a disabled keyboard in the Maverick installation. In rescue mode the keyboard works so I can enter commands. dpkg-reconfigure -a didn't help. A live cd runs fine and the keyboard and everything else runs as expected. Curiously, when I connect (and boot from) a bootable Maverick external USB hard drive the keyboard is disabled too on the offending machine but when connected to another machine works as expected. Bizarre!

PSU has been replaced with a new one and all hardware appears to be functioning at BIOS level. Any offers on what I can do to recover the installed system using rescue mode?

Don't know but now all is working after fiddling with 'accessibility' options related to the keyboard. Nothing obvious but suddenly keyboard was back and I could enter commands.

Are we under attack?
