I downloaded 10.10 and burned it to a CD at 8X speed.

I attempted to boot the program from the CD drive. After a few minutes of Ubuntu 10.10 and its lights blinking, I got a message saying "Check PC Display Settings." The words were in a box that moved around the screen of the monitor.

What settings to I check? The monitor works great with Windows XP running. I am using an older CRT HP Pavilion MX 75 monitor.

I am using a Dell Optiplex GX260.

According to the device manager, I have RAGE 128 PRO Ultra Gl AGP.

Does this make sense?

Thanks

Don

Is it the monitor or ubuntu giving the message?
If so it could be knocking your res out..
you might need to compile a xorg.conf
