Folks

I have been looking around the forums for the last couple of days to try and find a step by step guide to getting the FA-66 fire-wire recording device to work with ubuntustudio 10.10. I have just installed ubuntustudio and i am unsure as to how to proceed.

I think i can see my pcmcia card by using the lspci command and here is the output.

04:00.0 Fire-wire (IEEE 1394): VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6306/7/8 [Fire II(M)] IEEE 1394 OHCI Controller (rev 46)

When i try and run jack i get the cannot start this service as a client message. I am a part of the audio and video group (established using the users and groups gui)

I don't know enough about Ubuntu yet to decide what i should and shouldn't be adding to files. Some of the threads mention files i cannot find.

Could someone start by directing me to the information and commands that are required to post for people on this forum to assist me.

Much appreciated in advance.
