Does anyone have any experience with Minerva?

I am curious how well it works, and if someone with a decent Ubuntu background, but little smarthome know how could set this up relatively easy.

I'm looking for something for my Grandmother who is aging and could use both an easier way to control her house, and a way I can help her from mine!

I guess it's you and me against the world. I have heyu working but haveing issues with Minerva the docs are not how shall we say not worth a FSCK.
