How is the compatibility with ubuntu and the newer "Advanced Format" drives that use 4096 byte sectors? I have read that there is a transition underway from the old 512 byte standard and that there is a performance penalty if the sectors are not aligned properly. I guess my question is, will Ubuntu 10.10 align these partitions properly during format or must I do it manually?
Second, can anyone give me your experience with such drives? (The newer WD Caviar Green drives are mostly of this format).
